Another youth-led initiative coordinated by ECO Singapore
Friday, March 14, 2008Suggested Message to Staff/EmployeesDear All,We would like to share with you about an important global warming initiative, Earth Hour, taking place in Australia and around the world on 29th March 2008. At 8pm on March 29, cities around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to show that it's possible to take action on global warming. All households, communities and business are being invited to turn their lights off for one hour at 8pm on 29th March 2008. [We/or insert company name] will be turning off the lights in our building/s for Earth Hour and we ask that you turn your computer monitors and lights in your work space off before you leave at the end of the week (Friday 28 March). Naturally we will adhere to our OH&S guidelines/standards and emergency lighting and security systems will remain on as normal. OTHER SUGGESTED MESSAGES: Tell staff how they can find out more about Earth Hour and what your company is doing: • We have posted further information about Earth Hour on our website (www.earthhour.org) and/or staff intranet including FAQ’s and posters will be/are displayed in our staff kitchens/ breakout rooms etc • We are promoting Earth Hour on our website for our clients to see that we are committed to Earth Hour • We are inviting feedback on what our company can do to reduce energy emissions in our workplace. Please send your feed back to [contact name and email address or log comments on website/intranet at…] • For any questions regarding Earth Hour and what we are doing [Company contact name & telephone extension] is your key point of contact for Earth Hour or email/log @..... • Tell staff if your company is holding an event/celebration for Earth Hour • [From CEO/MD] Personally, I have registered my commitment to Earth Hour and I would encourage you to do the same by going to www.earthhour.org • [insert company name] is committed to Earth Hour and spread the word by sending the e-card attached to your friends, family and colleagues • We also encourage you to turn off your lights at home on the night • We also encourage you to get creative and do the following with your mobile phone: - Take pictures of yourself in action or with the poster - Take a short video on "How to combat global warming?" or anything related you want to share We will send these to the local effort blog at earthhoursingapore.blogspot.com to share with others your effort/support.
